yes the fighting always did strike me a bit odd, one person swings sword, half a second later the other peon swings sword, 2 seconds later both players swing sword at same time... jgez or whatever the people were thatmade that game had major problems they never fixed

i could imagine some1 rich buying something on Ebay. for example if some like bill gates son or somethin that is a super dork would go and spend 100 dollars on a sword for a game, and think nothing of it. WHY? because some people have so much money they can do what they want with it

anyone who pays real money for fake money or a wepon in a game really needs to take a minute to reevaluate their life

When I played SWG I believe the first Jedi accounts went for near $1,000 or so.

Especially for a FREE ONLINE GAME. Real money for fake money.... ummmm ...does this sound funny to any of you? Common guys if you really want to throw money away send it to me, or better yet just give it to charity. It's a free game, no money involved, why pay for anything???? I'll never get E-bay'ers...... |

Ok ok, you know what I ment. Try paying 14+ dollars a month for it. Not a flamming post, just trying to figure out why people take a free online game and spend more and more monry on it. Your not just buying gold, your paying for these bot/farmers to keep playing. Oh well, there will always be thoes who think FAKE money is worth REAL dollars. Cant say much but think about it....... |

Well the bot problem is the most serious I think - if it was just about selling honestly earned gold then I could understand it...but supporting botters is just hurting the game.
As for the fake money being worth real dollars - everything is worth as much as people are going to pay for it - if people are paying real $$$ for virtual gold - then it is worth it. As long as you can but it for $$$ adn sell it for $$$ it's worth it. |

I don't think it's that strange..
People buying Guild Wars gold/items for real money have a thing that the one selling the item does have: time. Someone with lots of money of course wants to have great items too, but someone with lots money items probably does not have the time to get all that. Someone with lots of time has the possibility to get those items and change it for something that they want. If I had lots of money, maybe I would buy some gold/items too, why not? |

I have two things to say
1)What's Runescape?? (these DORKS at my school say it's awesome and talk 'bout it non-stop, then I say how good are the graphics and from what I heard they're as good as some PS2 games.....) 2)I dont really mind because I sold an icy bow string (in-game) to some guy for 15k, who 'bout 1000k on e-bay (I remember hiis name but I'm not going to say it, unless asked in a PM or e-mail by someone from the GW staff), well, I cant deny the allure of selling something I dont need for that much gold... Now I have my chestpiece for 15k armour ^^ |

to start off i want to say that i never have and never will purchase things in a game with real money but i can definatly see the reason. lets say you make 25$ an hour working in RL. and for arguments sake 20$ will buy you 50k g. in an hour in game you could probably farm say 3 plat. so in terms of pure time investment it is cheaper by FAR to just buy it off of e-bay or whatever. i understand for all the kids that dont have jobs they complain because their only source of in game money is through time but for people with jobs who wish to be good but are casual gamers there is a definate appeal and reason for it. they get the benifit of having good items while still maintaining relationships to family members and making money in a real job.

I'd happily sell in-game items and other stuff for real-world cash. Buyers and sellers are mutually exclusive groups, and therefore you can't really judge one by the other's standards.
I happen to believe it's all good. If I get sick of a game after thrusting hundreds of hours into it, it's sure as hell fine by me to sell my hard work to some lazy bum with a grand and a half just sitting around -- I just made back all the money I spent on the game. PLUS a nice new PC or an entertainment center! I don't imagine you could sell GW accounts for much, since level 20's no big deal and prestige flows so freely (kick from famous guild: prestige gone!) However, I'd have to insist on a few precautions with this. Clear out your friends list, quit your guild/clan/linkshell, and tell everybody you talk to on a regular basis that you won't be YOU anymore. -sam |

The crowd that are already rather poor and blow their money on ingame items are obsessed, no doubt. However, there are people who can make lots of cash in real life, fast, and find that earning money in guild wars isn't as fast as simply earning the money outside of the game, and buying money in guild wars. While some of you may mumble something about it being self-degrading or morally wrong, it may be smarter to spend 1 hour mowing lawns for 60 bucks and buying 200plat ingame, than to spend a week in guild wars and earn that 200plat.

Is it worse or just the same?
We're complaining about paying real money for pixels? Investing something in reality for something that doesn't exist? You mean like actually playing hours in real time to make advancements on a character that isn't real? I don't see that much of a difference. They give up money for gear. We give up a date Saturday night to reach level 20.
